Half Marathon and Doing Shit That Makes Me Uncomfortable

I ran a half marathon yesterday (no headphones) and it went surprisingly well. My plan was to keep my heart rate under 150bpm and use that constraint to set my pacing. My only goal was to finish while avoiding injury, as I rarely run long distances.

A brief recap:
-Started experiencing some light cramps in my abs and shoulder around mile 2.5. I became very nervous. Luckily the cramps dissipated at mile 4.5.
-I was cruising until mile 7.5. Then my quads started to tighten up. A mile after, my hip flexors. A mile after that, my groin.
-Up to mile 10 I had managed to keep my pace sub 8:45 while staying below my threshold heart rate. At mile 10 my heart rate started to soar above that limit, but I didn’t want to slow down my time…so I just kept the pace. Interestingly I didn’t perceive much of a difference in effort throughout the final 3 miles.
-Final time of 1:53:41 (8:41/mile)

My knees are pretty sore today, but I’m feeling good otherwise. Overall, very happy that I did it, but it actually wasn’t as painful as I expected…gonna need to ramp up the difficulty level for the next self imposed challenge.

I definitely felt accomplished and great about myself upon completion. Doing hard things is satisfying. The question now on my mind is: how can I accelerate my entrepreneurial process by framing it as a series of intense, focused challenges (i.e. 1 man sprints)?
