Yesterday I published a post about how I should allocate my investment portfolio right now. My current portfolio somewhat reflects those thoughts, but it is not nearly as attuned to my purported “views” as it should be. Rebalancing to match those views would require me to take off a large portion of a trade thatContinue reading “words are cheap”

just a little skill
I continue to meet potential co-founders, and every time I mention my rudimentary programming capabilities they perk up. In the super early stages of many companies, building an extraordinarily simple prototype seems to meaningfully accelerate momentum. Possessing just a little technical skill at this stage can lead to large impact.
ballet
I went to the NYC ballet last night. It cost me $30 to watch 2 hours of world class contemporary dance. As much as I dislike NYC at times, that is a pretty incredible statement.
working with people
It is so much better than working alone. A reminder that if anyone ever wants to toss around ideas or work on a project together, hmu.
uncomfortable conversations
I met with potential co-founders last night, and by the end of the meeting we arrived at the question of equity splits. These 2 guys have worked on their project for 5 months and 2 years respectively, so I don’t think they were eager to cut the equity pie into equal slices. It was anContinue reading “uncomfortable conversations”
prioritizing loose ends
I have a couple of different projects going to some extent right now. nofearweightloss.com shopKit: I met 2 guys working on this, and I might join them. I am writing a yuppie’s guide to health I wrote a doc on seed oils and need to investigate potential business opps in this space (and just theContinue reading “prioritizing loose ends”
sunk cost does not apply
In theory I should remain open to all professional paths. If someone offers me a cool job that meets a lot of my criteria (don’t worry there is no offer), then I should seriously consider taking it even though I’ve already spent material time ~entrepreneuring~ (the sunk cost). I assume that the things you struggleContinue reading “sunk cost does not apply”
potential co-founders
I met a guy on the co-founder matching platform last week, and we are moving forward with discussions. His basic idea is to build a social shopping app, where you can share your purchases with your friends, and see what they are buying. So my 3 primary questions are: Do people want to see theirContinue reading “potential co-founders”
loads of food data
Yesterday I found a gold mine of food data provided by the USDA (here if you’re interested). One of the databases provides nutrient level data for 7000 foods. Think I’m going to build a simple web app that ranks foods by healthiness based on a formula I’m going to create.
random
I went for a walk this morning. It was 20 degrees. There is 0 upside to living in 20 degree weather unless you can go skiing (maybe it builds grit?). I walked by several ultra luxury buildings where the cheapest condos probably go for >$5million. If I lived in one of those, I would stillContinue reading “random”
