I think I found a nut guy to supply Manly Nuts with its maiden shipment (like a maiden voyage…idk). The quote I received is definitely pricier than I may be able to find elsewhere, but right now momentum and time to market are far more important to me than economics. I need to start gettingContinue reading “nut guy”

short term trading
I own some call options that expire in 9 days. The underlying price is pretty close to the strike, so the value of these options has been extremely volatile. I have no idea where prices will/should go in the next 9 days. Effectively this trade is a pure gamble, and I may as well flipContinue reading “short term trading”
time perception
Yesterday I felt like I worked all day, but my calendar suggests I only put in a solid 5 hours (not an office 5 hours, a true 5 hours). When I reflect on how I spend my time, my perception is usually pretty removed from reality. What is measured is managed… Also, I had 2Continue reading “time perception”
anchor project
At some point after I quit my job, I was chatting with my grandpa and he shared the rule of the monkey with me: do not let go of one branch until you are holding on to the next. He said it in the context of careers, but it applies to life generally. In retrospectContinue reading “anchor project”
going nuts
My sister just told me that she mentioned Brazil Nuts to her friend and he bought some from Amazon on the spot. This exact scenario occurred with some of my friends as well. The Brazil Nut movement is real! The only question is whether Manly Nuts will capture part of the market. Time to findContinue reading “going nuts”
preliminary research
As I dig deeper into the world of nuts, I am reminded of the research process from my previous job as an investment analyst. There, when I needed to learn about a new topic from scratch, my research process followed this general sequence: Google around and read a bunch about the topic. Try to createContinue reading “preliminary research”
moderation is for the birds
Extraordinary fitness > running an 8:30 mile A single 10x investment usually accounts for far more of your portfolio gains than all other trades combined Drinking 7 beers (occasionally) is far more fun than drinking 2 (regularly) Fewer deep relationships > many shallow ones Skiing a double black diamond > cruising a blue groomer 30Continue reading “moderation is for the birds”
environment vs discipline
“Aren’t you supposed to be healthy?” one of my gracious Wyoming hosts asked me as I crushed a brownie topped with Justin’s Honey Peanut Butter. It was noon. I replied, “I let it all go on vacation.” Upon reflection, this scene is a decent representation for how I currently live (at least w/r/t diet). IContinue reading “environment vs discipline”
don’t worry, the blog is not dead
Skiing has taken priority over blogging. Regular programming will resume this Thursday. I’m sorry for any and all pain my blogging inconsistency has caused. In other news Big Sky is a gnarly mountain.
dancing through life
I went to a western dance class last night with my gracious Jackson hosts, JK and TK. One of the instructors, Wayne, was probably in his 80s yet glided across the dance floor with spritely enthusiasm. The lesson: don’t stop dancing.
