Bryan Johnson is a really interesting dude, and I stumbled down the rabbit hole of his twitter account yesterday. Basically he runs a company focused on quantifying brain performance (Kernel), while simultaneously running an in-depth, self experiment on optimizing his physical health. Check out this doc where he outlines his philosophy and current findings. AnywayContinue reading “Cool stuff and the eat/sleep gap”

Cold Weather
I always tell people that I like cold weather. I just spent almost 2 weeks in tropical climates before returning to wintery NYC, and I have reevaluated my love for cold weather. I like fall weather (40+), and I like winter activities (skiing, hiking). I don’t like feeling cold for the sake of it (exceptContinue reading “Cold Weather”
Waking up early
I love waking up to a 6-handle on the clock. Feels like the day is full of possibilities. A 7-handle feels kind of neutral, and an 8-handle stresses me out. I also like waking up without an alarm. The natural consequence is that I like going to bed around 10pm. That is all.
Can the Fed Stop Inflation?
I haven’t spent much time recently focused on the markets, but every time I check my investment account I wince. For a while I’ve been betting that we will see high, sustained inflation AND that the fed will be too slow to tighten monetary policy. What we know: We have experienced high, sustained inflation TheContinue reading “Can the Fed Stop Inflation?”
Time to execute
I’ve laid out my entrepreneurial plan. Flying back to nyc. Then it’s time to execute.
2022 Goals and Reality Check
Disclaimer: this post is long and a bit rambling…🤷 A brief peak at twitter this time of year will reveal just how awesome and successful everyone else’s past year went. Kudos to those who crushed it. However I’ve always found content that highlights peoples’ struggles far more engaging and inspirational. My intention with this postContinue reading “2022 Goals and Reality Check”
Grace under pressure
Cancelled flights and logistically challenging travel serve as a good test of one’s ability to stay calm in a (relatively) stressful environment. My personal zen grade: b+ (self-assessed). Not bad, but a lot more work to do. Keep calm and carry on 🙏🏻
Inputs not outputs
I was reflecting on the goals I set at the beginning of 2021 and realized that I reached most of the goals that were within my control (ski x number of days), but failed at the goals that described outcomes (generate x revenue from a business). I’ll keep this in mind when I set myContinue reading “Inputs not outputs”
Root problem
Even though I laid out a brief framework for thinking about my future living situation, I realized I can’t start making logistical decisions until I better understand my goals for 2022. I’ll get to that longer, goal-related post soon, but this dynamic really drove home just how important bedrock assumptions are. It doesn’t matter howContinue reading “Root problem”
Environment
I’ve been on a beach vacation with my family for 4 days, and I’ve already adapted to my new schedule. Beach walks, yoga, swimming, reading…feels like I’ve been doing this my whole life. Just goes to show how much your environment influences your (or at least my) life. Note to self: put serious thought intoContinue reading “Environment”
