Co-Founder Trial

I am probably going to start working with 2 potential co-founders I met through the YC founder matching program. We will designate 3 – 4 weeks where we work together on one of the guy’s current projects (goodsconnection.com), and basically gauge if we are a good fit. Even though his project has nothing to do with health or any other “passion” of mine (the current project functions as a sort of wikipedia for consumer electronics), I’m excited for the opportunity to work with a team.

I spent a chunk of this past week writing in an effort to clarify my thinking around entrepreneurship (what do I really want) and strategy for achieving those goals moving forward. I wrote that I want to start a business with co-founders because:

“I want the potential to make a lot of money while working on a project I find engaging. I want to work with people who challenge me to become a better version of myself. I can’t work on a project that I believe is causing harm, but the project does not need to explicitly improve peoples’ lives. A project that explicitly improves peoples’ lives is a bonus.”

Definitely not my pitch for man of the year, but I wrote this before I met my potential co-founders. Consequently I think I remain intellectually consistent by agreeing to work on a brand new, unrelated project.

Also the 2 other guys are engineers, which provides a nice complement to my (non-existent 😛) skill set.
