To my loyal readers – I’m going to start posting daily updates. They will most likely be short, dull, and lacking anything of interest…so this is your fair warning to unsubscribe now before a bombardment of mediocrity lands in your inbox.
I was feeling extreme last night, so I ran out to buy a Garmin running watch right before the store closed. Today I’m going to use it while I run a half-marathon (for reference I workout a lot, but rarely run more than 1 consecutive mile). My sole goal is to avoid injury.
Also, unrelated but I uploaded my profile to Y Combinator’s founder matching program, and the connection requests are rolling in! I think it’s due to several factors: a background in the financial industry is actually somewhat unique in this arena, I said that I was technical…(it was a yes or no question and at this point I can do basic web development), and I have a dashing profile picture.
One more thing – I have this book called Deep Work by Cal Newport sitting on my desk unread. I recently came to the conclusion that my ability to focus hard for longer (say 1.5hrs+) periods of time will play a meaningful role in the quality of my life. That is to say: better concentration -> more output in less time -> more time available for non-work activities while achieving my desired output.
So anyways if I take a bit of an extreme approach to the things I do then I think I will be able to improve my capacity for extended deep work. Today run a half marathon, maybe later this weekend force myself to read a book for 2 consecutive hours…we shall see.
Love the new format. Run Noah run!

I want to hear all about the half-marathon. How did it feel running it? How does a feel post-recovery?
