I broke up with my potential cofounders last night, even though I think the prospects for their company are strong. I realized that if I’m committing to working on something for 5+ years, then either: I need to be in charge OR I need to deeply trust the person in charge. When I say trust,Continue reading “another breakup”

feeling nutty
I was lying awake in bed last night when the idea hit me: I’m going to sell young, adult males a magic pill that increases testosterone and sex drive. The pill is called a Brazil Nut. Of course you can already buy Brazil Nuts at some local grocery stores, or online via Amazon. What struckContinue reading “feeling nutty”
first principles
I’m definitely feeling a bit stuck entrepreneurially and realized I never actually wrote out a plan for how I was going to start a startup. Luckily there are a boatload of resources focused on doing just that, so I will be revisiting them and crafting a document to outline my approach. Looking to reset withContinue reading “first principles”
struggles
This entrepreneurship thing is about 10x more painful than losing money trading…guess I shouldn’t have quit lol. The day to day is fairly miserable. Yet I have no interest in giving up. Maybe I’m a masochist at heart?
blurred lines
Recently, I have entertained the prospect of working on a couple of new side projects (some with other people, which is great). My goal for the year is to start a business. Sometimes businesses are born from side projects, but that seems to happen serendipitously vs by executing a plan. I am working on oneContinue reading “blurred lines”
alcohol
I drank enough on Saturday to pretty much ruin Sunday. An entire day is far too valuable to write off. I don’t want that to happen again. Yes I could have just drunk in moderation, but I fail to see the benefits of that. Sober spring, here we come!
the deer hunter
I watched it yesterday. Super long, but so good. I like watching ~semi realistic~ war movies. I’m always left feeling a bit more thankful afterwards. Just trying to keep everything in perspective.
words are cheap
Yesterday I published a post about how I should allocate my investment portfolio right now. My current portfolio somewhat reflects those thoughts, but it is not nearly as attuned to my purported “views” as it should be. Rebalancing to match those views would require me to take off a large portion of a trade thatContinue reading “words are cheap”
How Should I Manage My Portfolio Right Now?
My dad passed along a note from his wealth advisor about the current investing environment, and I thought I would share my response to him right here as well. I was feeling a bit fiery. The [wealth advisor] thoughts are probably a great summary of market consensus, which is not a particularly helpful way ofContinue reading “How Should I Manage My Portfolio Right Now?”
just a little skill
I continue to meet potential co-founders, and every time I mention my rudimentary programming capabilities they perk up. In the super early stages of many companies, building an extraordinarily simple prototype seems to meaningfully accelerate momentum. Possessing just a little technical skill at this stage can lead to large impact.
