training

While I am relieved that the GMAT is behind me, I am going to miss the daily brain training. When I first began studying for the test I wasn’t doing particularly well, but a couple of weeks of focused practice allowed me to quickly improve.

The entire process was just a nice reminder that:

  • I thoroughly enjoy attacking new things and trying to improve rapidly
  • I crave intellectual stimulation
  • Short feedback loops are key to rapid improvement
    • W/r/t the GMAT – I would get a practice problem wrong and the prep app would immediately show me the solution with explanation
    • I think this is a key principle that applies to many things (entrepreneurship, investing, relationships, health), but for an activity like investing where there may be a long lag between input and response, there is probably a lot of value in figuring out ways to creatively employ shortened, feedback loops
